Type:

full-time Senior Internal Auditor Hendricks County Bank and Trust Company Brownsburg, Indiana | Full-Time | On-Site Who We Are Hendricks County Bank and Trust Company is a locally focused community bank serving Hendricks County through five branch locations. We believe banking should be personal, relationship-driven, and connected to the communities we serve. Our goal is not to become the biggest bank. It is to be the bank our customers and their families can rely on throughout every stage of life. That same relationship-focused approach extends to our employees. Team members have access to leadership, the opportunity to make a visible impact, and the ability to contribute ideas that can genuinely influence how we operate. About the Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to take ownership of our internal audit function. This is a unique opportunity for an auditor who enjoys independence, variety, and having a direct impact on an organization. You will operate as a department of one while working closely with executive leadership, department leaders, external audit partners, and the Bank's Audit Committee. This is primarily an operational, banking, and compliance audit role , rather than a dedicated IT audit position. For the right person, this is an opportunity to step beyond simply completing assigned audits. You will have the freedom to evaluate processes, recommend improvements, strengthen controls, and help shape the future of the Bank's internal audit program. What You'll Do As our Senior Internal Auditor, you will manage activities across the full audit lifecycle, including planning, preparation, fieldwork, reporting, corrective action, and follow-up.

Responsibilities will include:

Execute and maintain the Bank's risk-based internal audit program and annual audit schedule. Plan, prepare for, and conduct internal audits across multiple areas of the Bank. Perform operational, compliance, financial, branch, and selected technology-related audits. Review areas including lending, deposit operations, finance, accounts payable and receivable, HR, banking procedures, and other operational functions. Conduct scheduled and surprise branch audits, transactional reviews, cash and drawer audits, and other targeted reviews. Evaluate internal controls, policies, procedures, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance. Identify findings and provide clear, practical recommendations to department leaders and executive management. Prepare audit reports and communicate results to leadership and the Audit Committee. Develop, monitor, and follow up on corrective action plans. Work with departments to ensure identified issues are resolved appropriately and sustainably. Coordinate with external auditors and other third-party partners when specialized audit support is needed. Assist with regulatory and external audit preparation. Maintain organized, accurate, and thorough audit documentation and workpapers. Identify opportunities to improve audit processes, documentation, tools, controls, and operational efficiencies across the Bank. Stay current on applicable banking regulations, audit standards, risks, and industry practices. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone with strong audit fundamentals, sound judgment, and the confidence to independently work through an audit from planning through final resolution. You may be a strong fit if you have: Approximately 3+ years of experience in internal audit, external audit, public accounting, risk, compliance, banking, or a related discipline. A strong understanding of audit methodology, internal controls, risk assessment, testing, documentation, findings, and corrective action. Financial institution or community banking experience, or an audit background that provides a strong foundation for learning the banking environment. The ability to independently plan and execute an audit from beginning to end. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The confidence to present findings, answer questions, and professionally defend well-supported conclusions. The interpersonal skills to deliver difficult feedback while maintaining productive working relationships. Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain organized while managing several stages of the audit cycle at once. Curiosity and a continuous-improvement mindset. The ability and willingness to learn new areas rather than being limited to one audit specialty. Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CRCM, CISA, or similar credentials are welcomed but are not required.
