Full-Time About Valley Home Insulation Valley Home Insulation (VHI) is a growing Massachusetts energy-efficiency contractor focused on helping homeowners and communities improve the comfort, efficiency, and performance of their homes. We work extensively within Massachusetts energy-efficiency programs, including Mass Save, and provide insulation, air sealing, weatherization, and related building-performance services. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Energy Auditor to join our team. Position Summary The Energy Auditor will conduct comprehensive residential energy assessments, identify opportunities to improve building performance, and develop recommendations and work scopes for energy-efficiency improvements. This is a field-based position that combines building science, customer service, technical documentation, and problem solving . The ideal candidate understands how a home functions as a system and can evaluate insulation, air leakage, ventilation, heating systems, health and safety conditions, and other factors affecting energy consumption and occupant comfort. Responsibilities Conduct residential energy assessments and building-performance evaluations. Inspect attics, basements, crawlspaces, walls, mechanical systems, and other areas of the home. Evaluate existing insulation levels and identify opportunities for insulation and air-sealing improvements. Perform diagnostic testing as required, including blower-door testing and combustion-safety testing. Identify potential health, safety, moisture, ventilation, and building-durability concerns. Evaluate heating and cooling systems and identify opportunities for energy-efficiency improvements. Develop accurate scopes of work and recommendations for weatherization measures. Collect measurements, photographs, equipment information, and other required field documentation. Enter assessment information accurately into required software and program systems. Explain recommended improvements to homeowners in clear, understandable language. Coordinate with internal production, weatherization, HVAC, and administrative teams. Ensure assessments and documentation comply with applicable program requirements and building-performance standards. Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation in a timely manner. Participate in training and continuing education related to building science and energy-efficiency programs. Preferred Qualifications Experience conducting residential energy audits, home energy assessments, weatherization inspections, or similar building-performance work. Knowledge of residential building science, insulation, air sealing, ventilation, and HVAC systems. Familiarity with Massachusetts energy-efficiency programs, including Mass Save, is strongly preferred. BPI Building Analyst, Building Analyst Technician, or other relevant BPI certification is preferred. Experience performing blower-door and combustion-safety testing is preferred. Ability to identify building-envelope and health-and-safety conditions in residential properties. Strong computer and documentation skills. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work independently and manage a field schedule. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to safely access attics, basements, crawlspaces, and other residential building areas.
