Financial Audit Division Work Location:

414 E 12th

St Salary Range:

$4,711-$7,067 per month

Normal Work Days/Hours:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

We conduct objective audits and evaluations of city programs, services, and operations to promote accountability and the responsible use of public resources. Responsibilities What You'll Do:

Assists with developing, scoping, planning, and conducting audits, investigations, and performance reviews. Gathers, organizes, researches, and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources. Evaluates programs, operations, policies, and processes to identify trends, risks, efficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Synthesizes information from diverse and sometimes competing sources to develop objective, fact-based conclusions. Reviews records, reports, financial information, and supporting documentation to assess performance and compliance. Identifies key findings and develops recommendations based on research, analysis, and evidence. Prepares clear, concise, balanced, and well-supported reports, memoranda, presentations, and other written materials. Presents findings, recommendations, and analyses to management, elected officials, and other stakeholders. Collaborates with City departments, staff, and external parties to obtain information and support audit and investigative activities. Conducts interviews, research, and data collection activities to support projects and assessments. Maintains project documentation, work papers, and records in accordance with established standards and procedures. Works independently and as part of a team to complete assignments and meet project timelines. Upholds confidentiality, objectivity, professionalism, and a high degree of integrity in all work performed. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications

REQUIRES

An accredited Master's degree in public or business administration, urban or regional planning, economics, organizational psychology/development, project management, or geography OR an accredited Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional experience in public or business administration, corporate/municipal finance, research, accounting, planning, project/program management or geographical information system analytics. Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical. If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
