Licensing Auditor (NMGCB #46927) State of New Mexico - 3.5 Albuquerque, NM Job Details Full-time $27.37 - $41.06 an hour 9 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Posting Details New Mexico Gaming Control Board (NMGCB) regulates legalized gaming at: New Mexico's licensed veteran and fraternal organizations Casino gaming operations (not horse racing) at each of the State's racetracks Nonprofit bingo and raffles held throughout New Mexico NMGCB's Background and Licensing Division reviews all applications submitted by entities and individuals seeking licensure under the Gaming Control Act and Bingo and Raffle Act in the state of New Mexico. This process includes verifying and ensuring information in the application and other information gathered by the division is accurate. Once analyzed by staff, applications go either to the Board or Licensing Director for approval or denial The burden is on the applicant to prove qualification to hold a license, permit or certification. Additionally, the Licensing division acts as a liaison with licensees to ensure compliance with the Gaming Control Act and Bingo and Raffle Act after licensure. Organizations and individuals licensed in New Mexico must be held in good standing with their parent organizations and with the state of New Mexico. The Board's licensing and certification process is rigorous and designed to ensure that both the citizens of New Mexico as well as guests to our state can enjoy gaming in a fair and honest environment. While the measures employed during our application, compliance, and enforcement processes are admittedly strenuous, only by qualifying and then carefully regulating the venues and people involved in the gambling industry can we protect the public's interests. We take our regulation of New Mexico's gambling activities very seriously, and violations of the Board's rules or the New Mexico Gaming Control Act can result in severe administrative sanctions and criminal prosecution. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of posting closing date. Why does the job exist? The Background and Licensing Auditor ensures those who wish to work in non-tribal gaming operations meet suitability standards held by the New Mexico gaming industry. Auditors carefully analyze and critique applicants' personal and financial documents before recommending approval or denial by the Licensing Director or the Board. How does it get done? The New Mexico Gaming Control Board (NMGCB) background checks and licenses all employees of New Mexico entities involved in non-tribal gaming operations, including casinos at race tracks, gaming equipment manufacturers and distributors, and non-profit entities involved in bingo, raffles and pull tabs. Depending on the applicant, an application can be several inches thick and include many different financial statements, tax returns and other documents with complex material. Licensing applicants to work in non-tribal gaming and non-profit bingo operations, raffles and pull tabs entails: Entering applicant information into the computer, verifying applicant information and ensuring all documents, including database reports, fingerprint results and credit reports, are in applicant files. Applicants with dubious and questionable history may not be approved. Making recommendations on licensing status and submitting such to supervisor for approval. May included preparing and presenting a Board Summary for those applicants who require board action based on findings. Filling in at the receptionist desk including greeting public and directing to the appropriate personnel, answering incoming calls promptly and cordially, logging in packages and email receipts, screening and processing applications, generating reports, keying in data, maintaining logs, assisting with walk-ins and processing checks in receptionist's absence. The New Mexico Gaming Control Board employees, Background and Licensing staff, internal and external departments, gaming representatives, licensee applicants, the public and New Mexico non-tribal gaming entities. Ideal Candidate The New Mexico Gaming Control Board employees, Background and Licensing staff, internal and external departments, gaming representatives, licensee applicants, the public and New Mexico non-tribal gaming entities. Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and one (1) year of directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Selected candidate must have a driver¿s license and will be subject to an extensive pre-employment background check that includes fingerprinting. New Mexico Gaming Control Board employees may not participate in any gaming activity including bingo and raffle in the State of New Mexico. This does not include State Lottery and New Mexico horse racing. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. There may be some in-state travel and possible extra hours depending on duties. Employees do not work remotely.
