Posting Details This posting is continuous and may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? Under the direction of the Senior Manager
  • Internal Audit, this position plans and performs internal audits of DOH programs and contractors; including, but not limited to, financial process audits, compliance audits, and performance audits.
Additionally, this position documents deficiencies/findings, as well as corrective actions undertaken by auditees and management. The position exists in order to identify specific areas of financial and operational risk at NMDOH while making recommendations on how to mitigate those risks. How does it get done? This position will apply auditing concepts and methods to analyze a wide variety of data sourced from across the Department of Health in order to produce reports and recommendations. This position will apply the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (the 'Standards') promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors. This position will review data from multiple sources; produce work papers, conduct interviews, create concise audit reports, and present findings and recommendations to management summarizing the results of various audits. This position will be responsible for compiling workpapers and reports specific to projects and deliverables developed in coordination with the Senior Manager

The Office of Internal Audit reports to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Deputy Secretary for Operations. The customers are the Department of Health and residents of the State of New Mexico Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
