As Senior Audit Manager - Enterprise-wide Risk Management (ERM) and Governance Audit, you will lead audit coverage of ERM and Governance in the US. The ERM and Governance Audit team is responsible for audit coverage of the management of the ERM function and Corporate Governance across HSBC Group, including the management of operational and resilience risks. This is achieved through both direct audit coverage and providing subject-matter expertise to monitor and direct the audit coverage across Global Internal Audit. As Senior Audit Manager - Enterprise-wide Risk Management (ERM) and Governance Audit, you will:
  • Lead a team of 3 audit managers, overseeing delivery of all US audits in the ERM and Governance Audit Plan
  • Interact with local regulators regarding GIA coverage of relevant activities, notably 2LOD oversight of operational and resilience risks
  • Manage the relationship with relevant stakeholders in the US on major plans, projects, strategic developments, and industry trends, both to understand and provide input to emerging risks and issues and assess the impact on the planned schedule of audits.
  • Co-ordinate GIA coverage of applicable regulatory requirements, such as Heightened Standards, across multiple audit teams in the US
  • Effectively manage some individual audits and activity through planning and delivery of the annual audit plan within expected timeframe, standards, methodology, budget, and best practices
  • Confirm that audit findings and recommendations are understood and appropriately addressed
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the applicable business and regulatory environment impacting ERM and Governance, including developing trends, risks, controls, and expectations
  • Support a strong risk and conduct culture across the Group and promote awareness and sound operational and strategic decision-making
  • Critically analyses and determine key drivers of change for area of coverage and assess how these will impact GIA's engagements
  • Identify audit process improvements to increase productivity and efficiency without impacting effectiveness Qualifications and Experience You'll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
  • Extensive relevant work experience in the Financial Services Sector, with prior experience in internal audit, consultancy, or external audit preferred, but not essential
  • Experience of team management
  • Knowledge of the applicable regulatory requirements in the US and business processes related to ERM and Governance
  • Relevant accounting, audit, analytical, financial, project management, quantitative, risk, and technology skills, qualifications or certifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, accounting, mathematics, or social sciences. Preference given to qualified accountants, CIA, CISA, CFE, or ACAMS
  • Fluency in English
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience in defining and utilizing data-driven techniques including data analytics, process mining & AI is desirable but not essential
  • Analytical and critical thinker, who can effectively manage competing priorities and complex challenges to deliver positive outcomes and apply technology or expertise to business issues or operational problems
