Job Description

Audit Director Distinct Recruitment - 4.5 Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time $160,000 - $190,000 a year 6 hours ago Benefits Profit sharing Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Work from home Parental leave Vision insurance 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications CPA Public accounting Senior leadership Full Job Description Most Director of Audit jobs involve inheriting somebody else's system and being asked to keep it running. This one involves building a better one. You'll take leadership of the audit function for a CPA firm that's growing nationally, both organically and through acquisition. You'll be the final sign off authority across the audit practice, lead the Managers, Seniors and Staff, and have genuine freedom to shape how audit quality, workflows and technology work as the firm gets bigger. And no, you won't be handed a revenue target and told to start calling everyone you've met since college. Your job is to make the audit practice excellent. That means owning quality control and peer review readiness, developing the team, improving turnaround times and bringing acquired firms into 1 consistent audit methodology. You'll also work directly with the firm's development and operations teams to introduce more AI and automation into the audit process. Not technology for technology's sake. Technology that removes repetitive work, improves consistency and gives good auditors more time to do good audit work. So this isn't a Director title attached to a glorified review role. You'll have the opportunity to put your fingerprints on how a growing national audit practice operates. You'll need to be an active CPA with experience around Senior Audit Manager or Director level. It's particularly important that you've personally held final engagement sign off or EQR authority and that you're comfortable leading people and owning audit quality. In return, you'll receive a competitive base salary and bonus, 401(k) match, medical, dental and vision coverage, PTO, paid holidays, plus your CPA fees, CPE and professional dues covered. If you've spent the last few years thinking, "I know how I'd run this if somebody actually gave me the chance," this might be worth a conversation. Here's the part most people get wrong: you don't need to tick every box to introduce yourself. The apply button is not legally binding. Worst case? We chat, decide the timing isn't right, and you carry on. Best case? You bag yourself a fantastic new position. If you'd like to explore what that could look like, let's have a confidential conversation.
