Chargemaster Specialist Chargemaster Specialist Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together
Work Location:

Work Hours:
Full Time Days (8:00am-5:00pm) for 40 hrs/week (remote work allowed at manager's discretion)

What You Will Do:
Establish/monitor/audit chargemaster processes to ensure Texas Health is in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, private payers and other applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with Texas Health Revenue Cycle, Texas Health Billing Compliance Committee, Texas Health System Compliance Officer (as required) and other departments as needed to address all issues related to chargemaster billing compliance. Identify, research and analyze chargemaster billing compliance issues to promote appropriate and consistent billing practices. 30% Review and implement annual and quarterly
CMS CPT/HCPCS
changes to maintain compliance with federal, State, and any local guidelines. Maintain the integrity of the chargemaster including additions, changes, and updates across system interfaces and applications. Ensure edits and changes to the chargemaster comply with
CPT/HCPCS
coding, National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) revenue codes, billing, payor, and regulatory requirements. Perform all quarterly VitalWare Compliance Reports. This includes (not an all-inclusive list) identification of the following: missing, deleted, invalid, not reportable and not billable
HCPCS/CPT
codes. 30% Maintain and support chargemaster-related systems and applications, including but not limited to Vitalware, Epic, and other relevant platforms. Maintain and support Vitalware/other application user access and security. Coordinate with EFOs to ensure appropriate user access privileges and approval. Perform audits to ensure compliance with security privileges. Train all existing and new Vitalware users on system functionality. Training includes but is not limited to: submitting chargemaster requests, utilizing Vitalware research resources, and running reports/queries for CDM utilization. Initiate and complete the annual Chargemaster CDM Request User Approvals with EFOs. 20% Assist the department in preparing data files or uploading data into the THR Chargemaster. Support Chargemaster and THR leadership by providing operational assistance and ensuring compliance in all chargemaster-related activities. 15% Other duties as assigned by Chargemaster Services and Senior Leadership. 5%
What You Need:
Education H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Req Associate's Degree Pref Experience 2 Years Healthcare (hospital, physician office) setting with knowledge of medical terminology and CPT coding. Must have a working knowledge of healthcare terminology. Req Experience with corporate (multi-hospital) level chargemaster. Pref Education H.S. Must have a working knowledge of healthcare terminology. Req Experience with corporate (multi-hospital) level chargemaster. Pref Skills Must have a working knowledge of healthcare terminology. An understanding of billing and reimbursement processes is preferred but not required. Good problem-solving skills and effective communication skills required. Must be able to access internal systems, gathering data and preparing reports. Strong PC literacy will full suite of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
