POSITION SUMMARY
The Housing Energy Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive and precise residential energy assessments in accordance with agency and Government standards. Additional duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma.
- Must be able to communicate and establish effective work relationships with property owners, contractors, cooperating authorities, and co-workers.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to keep on task independently and complete work in a timely manner.
- Understanding of residential home construction, HVAC, energy efficiency and building codes.
- Excellent organization, verbal, and written communication skills required along with proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Ability to work professionally with staff, the public, and other outside agencies.
- Must be able to travel to attend training and meetings.
- Must have a valid US driver's license.
- Must submit to a County background check.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year of Energy Auditing experience.
- Home Energy Performance (HEP) training and/or certification, Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification, HVAC Certificate, Home Energy Rating Index (HERS) Certification.
- Working knowledge of PA local government.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- Determine appropriate retrofit repair, energy efficiency improvement measures or replacements to bring the dwelling and/or heating unit into compliance with weatherization standards.
- Utilize resultant data and prepares work order specifications to be used by subcontractors for required energy efficiency work.
- Inspects completed work and tests its performance.
- Must be available to attend training sessions, some may require short stays out of town, as required for certifications.
- Successful completion of a mandated certification course is required.
- Required to drive the County-owned vehicle to identified sites throughout York County and Adams County.
- On-call availability during the calendar months November through April.
- Regular and reliable attendance required.
