Job Description:

Day to Day Responsibilities The person hired for the position of Inpatient Auditor will have a passion for imparting their knowledge and expertise in clinical documentation improvement to both their customers and their internal team members as well as providing innovative solutions to solve customers' business opportunities. The person hired will be involved in coding and documentation audits on inpatient facility records, delivery of results and recommendations to customers, customer education, and advocacy and thought leadership for compliant documentation and coding and pertinent issues. The ideal candidate will be expected to work directly and/or collaborate with the coding and clinical team members and external clients. This candidate will also assist in supporting the Consulting service team presenting underlying clinical and coding concepts to various hospitals and/or organizations as internal staff. This is a Part Time, Contract opportunity.

Work Schedule:

Remote Schedule will have flexibility for worker to work 20-40 hours as needed. This is a PRN pool.

PRN Pool:

A 'PRN Pool' refers to a group of healthcare professionals who work on an as-needed basis, rather than having a set schedule. 'PRN' stands for 'pro re nata,' a Latin phrase meaning 'as the situation demands.' Employees in a PRN Pool are typically called in to fill shifts when there are staff shortages, increased patient loads, or absences. This arrangement offers flexibility for both the employer and the employee, but hours and benefits may be limited compared to full-time positions. PRN Pool positions are common in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.

Expected Duration:

12 months Contract with possibilities of getting extension.

The ideal candidate will have:

Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of 12 years of experience in clinical coding in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement

RHIA, RHIT

with CCS certification and a minimum of eight (8+) years of clinical coding experience, or Valid RN License with minimum of eight (8+) years acute care experience. Recognized CDI credential from ACDIS (CCDS) or AHIMA (CDIP) Five (5+) years of CDI experience Two (2+) years of Auditing experience Additional Skills & Qualifications Master's degree in HIM, Nursing, or other healthcare clinical background 7 years in an advanced CDI role preferred Proven ability to maintain superior customer and employee relations in a fast-paced environment Experience with telecommuting, working with EMRs and other electronic tools Ability to work with multiple and diverse clients and projects Attention to detail, highly organized, with an absolute focus on quality of work Deep understanding of clinical documentation, medical record coding, healthcare billing and revenue cycle management Knowledgeable in 3M HIS software portfolio (360 Encompass) Strong

ICD-10-CM/PCS

coding and DRG auditing experience Working knowledge of risk-adjusted methodologies (e.g., APR DRGs) Working knowledge of quality of care measures (e.g., PSIs)

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university and a minimum of 12 years of experience in clinical coding or CDI in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement.
