iraresources.com/ Position Overview The Internal Auditor plays a key role in ensuring operational integrity, regulatory compliance, and risk management of retirement accounts under our custody. This position serves as a vital pillar of support for the compliance department, working closely with the Compliance Officer to safeguard company and client assets. Beyond compliance, this role delivers cross-functional support operationally - it bridges the gap between daily execution and high-level oversight. This position handles the reviewing and auditing of complex alternative asset transactions, client funding pipelines, and helps mitigate risk while ensuring adherence to IRS regulations, state banking requirements, and internal controls. This role is ideal for a meticulous analytical professional who thrives on complexity, loves investigative problem-solving, and enjoys collaborating across different departments. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular reviews of operational transactions (client account funding - e.g., asset purchases, distributions, transfers, etc.) to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Verify that new accounts strictly follow BSA/AML and Customer Identification Program (CIP) regulations
  • Execute risk-based internal audits across various departments, evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, documentation, and related policies and procedures
  • Document detailed audit findings, draft audit reports, and present clear recommendations or escalations to the Compliance Officer
  • Support the Compliance Officer and compliance department in mapping and reviewing internal policy and procedure to IRS regulations, BSA/AML guidelines, and state banking requirements while ensuring they are consistently followed across the organization Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience evaluating workflows in a regulated environment
  • Experience in financial services, retirement accounts, or banking preferred
  • Experience using software or data analysis tools such as Excel preferred
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail and data integrity
