Green Meadows Partners is recruiting for an experienced Audit Manager or Senior Audit Manager to join a well-established public accounting firm in Knoxville, Tennessee. This opportunity is open to candidates at either the Manager or Senior Manager level , with title and responsibilities determined based on experience. We are looking for an experienced CPA with a strong public accounting background who can lead audit and assurance engagements, develop team members, build trusted client relationships, and provide practical guidance on complex accounting and auditing matters. For a more senior candidate, the role will also include broader client portfolio leadership, development of managers and future leaders, involvement in practice growth, and partnership with firm leadership on client strategy and business development. Responsibilities Lead audit, review, compilation, agreed-upon procedures, and other assurance engagements from planning through completion. Develop engagement strategies, budgets, staffing plans, risk assessments, and audit programs. Review workpapers and financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional standards. Research and resolve complex accounting and auditing matters. Serve as a key client contact and communicate engagement progress, findings, internal control observations, and recommendations. Manage engagement schedules, budgets, staffing, deadlines, and overall financial performance. Supervise, coach, and develop audit professionals through ongoing feedback, training, and mentorship. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities to address additional business needs. Collaborate with tax, accounting, valuation, advisory, and other professionals to provide coordinated client service. Maintain current knowledge of
U.S. GAAP, GAAS, SSARS, AICPA
guidance, and applicable professional standards. Participate in recruiting, training, firm initiatives, and professional or community activities. Senior Manager-level responsibilities may also include: Lead a significant portfolio of complex audit and assurance clients with responsibility for quality, risk, client experience, and profitability. Serve as a senior advisor to business owners, executives, boards, audit committees, and finance leaders. Provide senior-level review and oversight of complex engagements before principal or partner review. Coach and develop managers and emerging firm leaders. Support audit quality initiatives, peer review readiness, methodology improvements, and professional training. Contribute to practice strategy, recruiting, retention, succession planning, and firmwide initiatives. Develop new business through professional relationships, referrals, proposals, presentations, and community involvement. Partner with principals and partners on client strategy, engagement risk, pricing, scope, and practice growth. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field. Active CPA license required. 5+ years of progressive public accounting audit and assurance experience for Manager-level consideration. 8+ years of progressive public accounting audit and assurance experience typically expected for Senior Manager-level consideration. Experience leading audit and assurance engagements and supervising professional staff. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, audit methodology, and professional standards. Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, budgets, and client priorities. Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills. Sound professional judgment and ability to navigate complex accounting and auditing matters. Experience with privately held companies, nonprofit organizations, employee benefit plans, Single Audits, or other specialized assurance areas is a plus. Ability to travel to client locations as engagement needs require. For Senior Manager consideration, candidates should also bring demonstrated experience leading managers or complex teams, managing a significant client portfolio, advising senior client leadership, and contributing to client or practice development.
