Job Description
Performs routine (journey-level) auditing work; Work involves examining, investigating, and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, information systems, and management practices to ensure legal compliance with state statutes and internal regulations; and conducting audits for program economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Prepares audit reports of findings, outlines discrepancies, and recommends corrective actions. Advises on the requirements, liabilities, and penalties of compliance and noncompliance, and recommends improved accounting or management operation systems. Analyzes accounting and management operation systems and identifies internal controls. Verifies and reconciles bank accounts, treasury funds, and appropriations balances. Reviews applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and financial and administrative controls. Reviews and evaluates internal control structures. May review management, financial, or information systems internal controls and applications. May plan and organize audit procedures. May perform statistical random sampling of data. Performs related work as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree with major course work in accounting, business administration, computer or management information systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or management information systems work. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
