Located along the Texas Gulf Coast, Corpus Christi is home to approximately 320,000 residents and is recognized for its scenic waterfront, thriving maritime economy, and exceptional quality of life. Corpus Christi operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor and eight-member City Council serve as the City's legislative body while the City Manager oversees day-to-day municipal operations. The City Auditor is appointed directly by and reports independently to the City Council through the Council Audit Committee, ensuring organizational independence in accordance with the City Charter. The ideal candidate will be an experienced public sector auditing executive who understands the importance of independence, objectivity, and ethical leadership.

Required qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a closely related field. Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible governmental auditing experience. Four (4) years of governmental supervisory or executive management experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation at the time of application. Valid Texas Class C Driver License or ability to obtain shortly after appointment. Thorough knowledge of Government Auditing Standards and the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).

Preferred qualifications include:

Leadership experience in peer reviews. Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration. Extensive municipal government auditing experience. Experience reporting directly to elected officials or governing boards. Experience leading risk-based audit programs within large public organizations. Knowledge of municipal finance, internal controls, performance auditing, and strategic organizational improvement. leadership. The salary range for this position is $145,125 - $160,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
