Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Collision Estimator to join our automotive repair team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing detailed repair estimates, and communicating effectively with customers and insurance adjusters. Your expertise will help streamline the repair process, ensure customer satisfaction, and maximize shop profitability. Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to identify all necessary repairs, including bodywork, mechanical components, and systems such as transmissions, suspension, brakes, shocks & struts, tires, and oil changes. Utilize computer-aided vehicle damage estimating software to prepare precise repair estimates that include parts, labor, and materials. Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair procedures, costs, and timelines to ensure transparency and build trust. Collaborate with technicians to verify repair scopes and ensure estimates align with actual work needed. Upsell additional services such as tire service or suspension repairs when appropriate to enhance customer value and shop revenue. Manage insurance claims processes by liaising with adjusters and providing detailed documentation of vehicle damage. Maintain accurate records of all estimates, repairs, and client interactions while ensuring compliance with industry standards. Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions promptly and professionally throughout the repair process. Support dealership or shop operations by assisting with service writing and managing cash handling procedures when necessary. Qualifications Proven experience as a collision estimator or in a similar auto service management role within a dealership or independent shop. Strong mechanic experience coupled with automotive diagnostics knowledge to accurately assess complex repairs. Proficiency in estimating software and familiarity with computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools. Solid understanding of automotive repair processes including collision repair techniques, auto estimating, and service writing. Knowledge of vehicle systems such as transmissions, suspension components, brake systems, shocks & struts, tire services, and oil changes. Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence. Ability to upsell additional services confidently while maintaining integrity and transparency. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles if needed. Mechanical aptitude combined with sales skills to promote additional services effectively. $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
