Job Description
Position Summary The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall performance, operations, and customer experience of a Shearer Supply branch supporting the sale and distribution of American Standard HVAC equipment, parts, and supplies. This role ensures the branch operates efficiently, professionally, and profitably while delivering best-in-class customer service to HVAC contractors and dealers. The Branch Manager works closely with Territory Managers (TMs) to support dealer growth, product availability, and market expansion, ensuring the branch is a strong operational foundation for territory sales success. The Branch Manager leads by example, maintaining a hands-on presence in daily operations, while driving accountability, accuracy, and a culture of service excellence. Primary Objectives Drive branch sales, margin, and operational efficiency Deliver 100% customer satisfaction and loyalty through exceptional service Support Territory Managers in growing American Standard dealer business Maintain accurate inventory, efficient logistics Ensure a safe, organized, and professional working environment Key Responsibilities Branch Operations & Execution Manage all aspects of daily branch operations, ensuring readiness for business each day. Oversee order processing, receiving, inventory control, staging, and delivery coordination. Ensure all transactions follow a full-cycle process—accurate order entry, fulfillment, billing, and closure. Maintain high standards for warehouse organization, cleanliness, and efficiency. Ensure timely completion of warranties, transfers, and special orders. Monitor and enforce safe work practices, including forklift operations. Customer Service Excellence Set and enforce the standard for Shearer Supply customer service—professional, accurate, and responsive. Ensure every customer is greeted and supported promptly. Step in to resolve escalated customer issues or complex transactions. Promote suggestive selling and value-added service at the counter. Maintain a "zero tolerance" mindset for customer-impacting errors. Sales Support & Territory Alignment Partner closely with Territory Managers to support American Standard equipment sales and dealer growth. Assist with product availability, logistics, and operational support for sales driven opportunities. Support commercial quoting and large project coordination when needed. Maintain awareness of branch sales performance, product mix, and customer trends. Participate in branch meetings with TMs to align on priorities, opportunities, and dealer needs. Inventory & Logistics Management Ensure all inventory is received, verified, stocked, and tracked accurately on a daily basis. Monitor inventory levels, transfers, and ordering (OEM, Service First, and other key vendors). Oversee milk runs and deliveries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency. Minimize freight costs by optimizing use of Shearer Supply delivery resources. Maintain accurate reporting on inventory, damages, and transfers. Team Leadership & Accountability Lead branch personnel by setting expectations for professionalism, accountability, and performance. Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure tasks are completed to standard. Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, training, and performance expectations. Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on customer service and operational excellence. Ensure proper appearance, attendance, and workplace standards are consistently maintained. Reporting & Administrative Management Complete and submit all required reports accurately and on time, including: Inventory reports, Sales tracking and performance updates, Milk run and logistics reports, Expense, damage, and operational logs Maintain daily status tracking to ensure all transactions are completed and closed properly. Communicate regularly with Operations, Purchasing, and Sales leadership regarding branch performance and needs. Safety & Compliance Maintain a safe working environment and enforce all safety policies and procedures. Report all accidents or incidents immediately to management. Ensure compliance with company standards, operational procedures, and facility expectations.
