The Assistant Branch Manager plays a critical role in ensuring efficient branch operations while supporting field and sales activities as needed. This position focuses on warehouse operations, inventory control, and material flow, while also assisting with job-site measurements, estimating, and sales coverage. Willingness to support sales, installers, and branch leadership as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Branch & Warehouse Operations Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, inspecting, labeling, and storing materials. Accurately pull, stage, and prepare materials for installation crews and customer pickups. Cut carpet and other flooring materials accurately per job specifications. Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safety standards. Track and manage inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and report discrepancies. Coordinate material transfers, returns, and special orders with purchasing Inventory & Materials Management Ensure all incoming shipments are verified for accuracy and damage. Maintain proper material rotation and storage procedures. Work with branch leadership to minimize waste, shrink, and material shortages. Maintain accurate inventory records in company systems. Field & Estimating Support Assist with on-site measurements for residential and commercial flooring projects. Gather accurate job information including layout, quantities, and site conditions. Support creation of estimates and job pricing under branch guidelines. Communicate field findings clearly to sales, scheduling, and installation teams. Sales & Customer Support Provide sales coverage when sales staff are unavailable. Assist customers onsite and over the phone with product selection and basic estimates. Prepare quotes, process orders, and answer customer questions as needed. Maintain professional relationships with customers, builders, and contractors. Coordination & Communication Work closely with installers, sales, scheduling, and purchasing teams. Ensure materials and jobs are properly scheduled and ready. Communicate delays, shortages, or issues proactively. Support branch manager with operational planning and execution. Required Skills & Experience Experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or flooring materials preferred. Knowledge of flooring products (carpet, LVP, hardwood, tile) a plus. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to read measurements, blueprints, and job specifications. Comfortable using computer systems, estimating tools, and Microsoft Office. Effective communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of professionalism, reliability, and integrity.
