Job Description
About the Opportunity We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join a growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accounting experience who enjoys working with reconciliations, invoicing, and data entry in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and able to manage deadlines while maintaining accuracy. This position offers the potential to transition into a full-time, permanent opportunity based on performance and business needs. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly accounts receivable (AR) client invoice billings Generate and maintain monthly internal billing reports Perform high-volume daily and monthly account reconciliations Investigate, follow up on, and resolve outstanding reconciliation items Enter and maintain accurate financial data within accounting systems Assist with month-end close activities and meet established deadlines Support additional accounting-related tasks and projects as assigned Required Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience Understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits and credits Experience with invoicing and account reconciliations Strong data entry skills and attention to detail Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including data entry and basic formulas Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems Experience working in the financial services industry Preferred Qualifications Experience using QuickBooks Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Candidates with a high school diploma and significant accounting experience will also be considered What We're Looking For Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational and time-management skills Comfortable handling repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload effectively Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Decatur, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
