Job Description
Alaska Tax Lady is growing, and we're looking for an experienced bookkeeper with a strong accounting foundation to join our team. For years, Alaska Tax Lady has helped individuals and businesses throughout Alaska with trusted tax preparation and accounting services. As our bookkeeping division continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced professional who understands accounting principles and enjoys helping business owners succeed. This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for someone who understands accounting—not just bookkeeping. The ideal candidate has experience maintaining accurate financial records, understands how financial statements work, and takes pride in producing quality work. You'll begin by learning our systems, processes, and client expectations while supporting existing client work. As you demonstrate consistency, accuracy, and sound judgment, you'll gradually take ownership of your own portfolio of bookkeeping clients. Responsibilities Manage bookkeeping for multiple business clients Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts Record journal entries and month-end adjustments Prepare accurate monthly financial statements Process payroll and payroll tax filings Assist with cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping projects Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies Communicate professionally with clients and team members Work closely with our tax professionals to ensure complete and accurate year-end reporting Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or currently pursuing an Accounting degree Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits, financial statements, and account reconciliations Experience with QuickBooks Online Payroll experience preferred Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail Professional communication skills Who We're Looking For We're building a team of professionals who are dependable, accountable, and committed to delivering exceptional service.
