- Lodi, CA Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our construction accounting team.
This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the full accounting cycle, reviewing job costs and project financial information, preparing financial and management reports, and working closely with management and project teams. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing, is highly organized and self-directed, and can independently research, reconcile, and resolve accounting discrepancies. Experience with Trimble Vista and Procore is required. Experience with Crystal Reports/Crystal Report Writer, PivotTables, and Power Query is a strong plus. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintain accurate and complete company accounting records. Manage general ledger activity, including reviewing, balancing, correcting, and adjusting accounts. Perform account and bank reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies. Prepare and post adjusting and correcting journal entries. Perform and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Review financial information for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification. Review construction job costs, project financial information, and job profitability for accuracy. Review cost coding and identify potential errors or inconsistencies affecting project financial reporting. Work with project teams to research and resolve job-cost and accounting discrepancies. Prepare financial information and reports for management review. Create recurring and ad hoc financial and management reports. Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions and provide backup support as needed. Work closely with management, accounting staff, project managers, and other construction team members to obtain information and resolve accounting questions. Identify discrepancies, unusual activity, or potential accounting issues and follow them through resolution. Assist with improving accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls. Provide training and support to other accounting team members as appropriate. Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting-related responsibilities as requested by management. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of full-charge bookkeeping or comparable accounting experience. Construction accounting and job-costing experience. Experience with Trimble Vista. Experience with Procore. Strong understanding of the complete accounting cycle. Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to review and analyze job-cost and financial information and identify discrepancies. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational, follow-up, and tracking skills. Ability to independently research and resolve accounting issues. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting and project teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial information. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Crystal Reports/Crystal Report Writer. Advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including PivotTables and Power Query. Experience developing or preparing job-cost, profitability, and management reports. Experience improving accounting processes, reporting tools, and internal controls. Professional Skills This position regularly interacts with company ownership, management, accounting personnel, project managers, project teams, vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, lenders, banks, and other financial professionals. The successful candidate must be comfortable asking questions, obtaining information from project teams, researching discrepancies, and following issues through resolution. We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable, self-managed, analytical, and detail-oriented and who understands the importance of timely and accurate financial information in a construction environment. Final compensation will be based on relevant construction accounting experience, Trimble Vista and Procore proficiency, reporting capabilities, and overall qualifications. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Accounting education, coursework, or degree preferred.
