Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Clerk specializing in Payroll and Accounts Payable to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage payroll processing, ensure accurate accounts payable operations, and support the overall financial health of our organization. Your expertise will help maintain compliance with labor laws and tax regulations while safeguarding confidential information. Duties Process payroll using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, or Kronos, ensuring timely and accurate employee compensation. Manage accounts payable activities, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and account reconciliations utilizing accounting software like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft. Maintain and update payroll records, HR systems, and time & attendance systems to ensure data accuracy. Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll tax requirements through diligent review and documentation. Prepare journal entries, perform general ledger reconciliations, and handle double entry bookkeeping tasks for payroll and accounts payable accounts. Support benefits administration processes related to payroll deductions and employee benefits programs. Assist with audits by providing detailed reports on payroll transactions, accounts payable activities, and financial data analysis. Experience Proven experience working with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex or UltiPro. Strong background in corporate accounting practices including general ledger accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and governmental accounting. Familiarity with HRIS platforms like Kronos or Ceridian for time & attendance tracking. Knowledge of employment law, tax law, labor law compliance, and relevant financial concepts. Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) for data entry, analysis, and reporting; experience with financial software is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining accuracy in data entry and account reconciliation tasks. Excellent analytical skills combined with a strong understanding of technical accounting principles such as debits & credits and journal entries.
