At SMART Workforce Center, we're on a mission to build a quality workforce for today and tomorrow—and we're looking for a dedicated Accounting Specialist to help keep our financial operations running smoothly behind the scenes. In this role, you'll perform a broad range of accounting, grant, and financial support functions that keep our organization strong and compliant. From processing accounts payable and reconciling bank accounts to preparing journal entries and supporting payroll, your work will ensure our transactions are accurately recorded, properly documented, and compliant with organizational policies, grant agreements, and generally accepted accounting principles. As part of our finance team, you'll review invoices for accuracy and grant compliance, code expenditures to the appropriate funding sources, and maintain vendor records, W-9 documentation, and annual 1099 reporting. You'll also assist with monthly and year-end closing activities, prepare schedules for annual audits and monitoring reviews, and help maintain the strong internal controls that protect the integrity of our financial information. This position offers the opportunity to put your accounting expertise to work in a mission-driven environment. You'll utilize MIP Fund Accounting, Microsoft Excel, and other financial systems to maintain accurate records, while providing excellent customer service to staff, vendors, funding agencies, and external partners. Whether you're reconciling complex accounts, supporting an audit, or troubleshooting a discrepancy, your attention to detail will directly support programs that strengthen our local workforce and communities. This full-time, non-exempt position starts at an hourly wage between $23.99 and $29.99 , depending on experience. We're looking for a detail-driven professional with an Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field (Bachelor's preferred) and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Experience with nonprofit organizations, governmental grants, or federally funded programs is highly desirable.
