Orange County Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for handling various accounting functions, including filing business and tax forms, assisting with audits, and preparing reports for management. This position involves maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of nonprofit accounting practices and the ability to effectively manage financial tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting File various business and tax forms including LLC information returns, California Department of Tax and Fees Administration, property tax welfare exemption forms, property taxes, etc. Enter data into accounting system for various bank accounts and other transactions Manage monthly payments received from government agencies Track leases and maintain appropriate accounting records Track and record monthly note payable activity Reconcile various accounts with departments within the organization Maintain retirement plans, including preparing and participating in annual audits Prepare various monthly reports for management Assist with audit preparation Assist with updates to and revisions of accounting process and procedures manual Perform ad hoc projects as appointed by Supervisor Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting At least 2 years of experience in an accounting department Knowledge of nonprofit accounting (GAAP) rules and regulations, grant and fund accounting, and compliance Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel General Ability to plan, organize and prioritize duties; clearly communicate information and instructions verbally and in written form; maintain a positive, professional and safe environment while on duty; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Accuracy in daily tasks and ad hoc projects Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, and the ability to respond effectively and positively to shifting priorities Ability to function as a team player and collaborate effectively Ability to maintain good working relationships with vendors, grants, and other agency employees Adherence to policies and procedures of organization Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Reliable transportation
