Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Senior Bookkeeper to join our team in a leadership capacity. Success in this role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to identify and correct errors, both your own and others', and a commitment to ongoing learning and improvement. You will serve as a quality control checkpoint, offering constructive feedback and ensuring all bookkeeping deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with best practices. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in bookkeeping, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a genuine enthusiasm for collaboration and professional development. You must be comfortable managing a variety of client accounts, shifting between priorities, and supporting multiple team members and managers simultaneously.Essential Duties:
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks for multiple clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Oversee client payroll processing, including payroll tax filings and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of bookkeeping work completed by other team members.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP or client-specific reporting requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring timely communication, responsiveness to inquiries, and proactive issue resolution.
- Use accounting software QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online to record and analyze financial data. Set up and maintain accurate client files and accounting systems. Assist with financial statement preparation
- Ensure proper documentation and support for all transactions to facilitate tax preparation and compliance. Collaborate with CPAs and tax professionals during audit or tax filing processes.
- Perform all closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and review of trial balances to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Assist in training and supervising bookkeeping staff, reviewing their work for accuracy, and providing guidance as needed.
Job Qualifications:
Proficient in QuickBooks Proficient in Microsoft Office Detail and deadline-oriented Always have a professional attitude Willingness to learn new computer programsExperience:
Bookkeeping 2+ yearsRequired Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.Physical Setting:
Office environment Works with computers and telephone extensively Fluorescent lightingPhysical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or greet clients. Able to position self to maintain files in file cabinets. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Able to move boxes weighing up to 40 pounds across office for various needs. The ability to observe details at close range and observe people entering and exiting the building. The employee must also have the ability to: Pay attention and focus. Follow instructions. Manage multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously.
