BOOKKEEPERCLASSIFICATION
Non-Exempt Reports to :Accounting Manager SUMMARY:
The Bookkeeper is a vital member of the finance team. She or he enters daily cash receipt and disbursement transactions into Aplos accounting system, requiring a complete understanding of the organization's fund accounting system. The Bookkeeper is solely responsible for ensuring each transaction is posted to the proper fund and account number. The Bookkeeper downloads or scans the source documentation required by the external auditors. The Bookkeeper is trained and authorized to process payroll in the Accounting Manager's absence. The Bookkeeper fields queries from churches and vendors regarding receipts and payments.MAJOR DUTIES AND TASKS
- Input and post cash receipts daily
- Input and post accounts payable daily
- Pay invoices twice a week
- Generate monthly reports to accompany payments to the General Church
- Initiate billing for miscellaneous amounts receivable from other entities or individuals
- Create and maintain filing system for all accounting transaction documentation
- Process payroll in the absence of the Accounting Manager
- Provide support in the implementation of accounting policies
- Prepare yearly 1099's
- Maintain amortization tables for church loans
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure proper recording of transactions
- Assist in the preparation of month end close.
- Assist with workers compensation audit
- Assist with the preparation of spreadsheets for the external auditors
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible bookkeeping or accounting clerk experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prove and maintain professional relationships with staff and constituents
- Proficiency in bookkeeping software and MS Office applications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Pay:
