Job Description

Description About the Role Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk for a contract opportunity with a well-established construction company in Meriden, Connecticut. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing high-volume invoice processing and vendor payments. The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions. Responsibilities

+ Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficiently

+ Verify invoice coding and obtain appropriate approvals

+ Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation

+ Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments

+ Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies

+ Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and account inquiries

+ Maintain organized accounts payable files and records

+ Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations

+ Enter and maintain accounting data within the ERP or accounting system

+ Support the accounting team with additional projects as needed Requirements Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred + 2+ years of accounts payable or accounting support experience

+ Experience processing high-volume invoices

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

+ Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities

+ Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications

+ Previous accounts payable experience within the construction industry

+ Familiarity with purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and job costing

+ Experience working with ERP systems or construction accounting software Schedule

+ Full-time, Monday through Friday

+ Standard business hours
