Job Requirements:
Experience:
5+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a legal or professional services firm.
Core Accounting Knowledge:
Strong understanding of accounts payable, vendor invoice processing, credit card transactions, case cost transactions, client settlement documentation, and financial recordkeeping (cash-basis accounting environment).
Software & Technical Skills:
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office (especially Excel), with the ability to confidently navigate case management platforms.
Financial Reporting & Operations:
Experience assisting with month-end/year-end close processes (including closed case write-offs) and preparing check runs, cost reports, closing statements, 1099s, and financial reports.
Professional Skills:
High level of accuracy, organization, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
Comfortable working on-site in an in-office environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior bookkeeping experience specifically within the legal industry. Familiarity with FileVine case management software. Experience or proficiency using AI tools, including QuickBooks Online AI features.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records on a cash basis and assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Receive, verify, and enter vendor invoices into accounting and case management systems. Prepare and process weekly check runs for operating expenses and client case costs. Process American Express credit card transactions and support related reconciliation activity. Create closing statements, cost reports, and trust check correspondence for case settlements and disbursements. Maintain client settlement files, process annual 1099s, assist with CPA tax package preparation, and prepare month-end reporting.

Office hours.
Salary:
$60,000 to $65,000 per year, based on experience.
