The Accounting Assistant performs a variety of general clerical and accounting functions, such as reconciliation of bank accounts, posting information, balancing general or subsidiary ledgers, processing payments, and compiling segments of monthly closings and annual reports.Core Job Functions:
1. Provides accounting support to the department. 2. Prepare and maintains accounting documents and records. 3. Prepares bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements. 4. Reconciles accounts in a timely manner. 5. Enters key data of financial transactions in applicable system/database. 6. Researches, tracks, and restores accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies. 7. Informs management and compiles reports or summaries on activity areas. 8. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. High School diploma or equivalentExperience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
- Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
- Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
- Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
- Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
