About the
Role:
As a Bookkeeper in the construction industry, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records that support the company's operational and strategic goals. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial transactions including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Your work will ensure compliance with tax regulations and internal policies, facilitating smooth financial audits and reporting. By accurately tracking financial data, you will provide essential insights that help management make informed decisions and maintain financial health. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can efficiently handle multiple financial processes while supporting the unique accounting needs of construction projects across the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role, preferably within the construction industry. Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles. Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll tax processing. Familiarity with tax return preparation and compliance requirements. High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred. must have 3-5 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the construction industry or with construction-specific accounting practices. Advanced knowledge of general ledger management and financial reporting. Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or equivalent. Experience with additional accounting software or ERP systems used in construction. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily bookkeeping tasks including recording financial transactions and maintaining accurate ledgers. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections. Perform bank reconciliations to verify and balance company accounts regularly. Prepare and assist with payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Support the preparation of tax returns and financial reports in coordination with external accountants. Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect all financial activities accurately. Utilize QuickBooks software to record, track, and report financial data specific to construction projects. Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure financial data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
