Account Clerk Senior - ( 13745 )
VETERANS' PREFERENCE

POSITION SUMMARY
Under routine supervision, maintains a complex accounting record system to support the integrity of recording and reporting financial information. Job requires knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures used in performing more complex clerical accounting and/or bookkeeping tasks. Procedures are established and a number of specific guidelines are available, requiring judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate methods, techniques and procedures to apply to specific cases. Solves routine or recurring problems and identifies and suggests solutions to more complex problems. May oversee work of others by scheduling, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the work. Contacts require courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others and usually include contacts to request or provide information, ask questions, or obtain clarification. Work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are subject to instructions and established work routines, and the worker has the latitude to rearrange the sequence based on changing work situations or workflow.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Performs accounting functions for an assigned special fund or activity. Maintains a complex accounting record system with a high volume of varied and complex transactions. Maintains records and books of accounts in accordance with established procedures. Prepares routine and special accounting statements and/or analyses of accounting data. Performs research on special topics, projects, problems and compiles data on findings for review. Prepares data for fiscal reports and statements. Prepares data for budgets. Reconciles and balances financial statements and accounting records. Receives funds, prepares deposits and reconciles bank statements. Codes fiscal documents for posting into automated accounting system. Posts transactions to proper accounts. Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications. Performs other job-related work as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS OPEN REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years combination of education, training and/or experience in the clerical accounting field that includes bookkeeping, general ledger transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and/or payroll. Six (6) semester hours of college level accounting courses may be substituted for each year of the required experience.

The starting salary for professional positions will be determined based on education, licenses, certifications, skills, experience, and alignment with salaries for similar roles within the organization. The starting hourly rate for positions with a pay step plan will be Step 1 of the corresponding union contract.
