Position Overview:
Bluewater is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as an Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting and financial support functions, including accounts payable oversight, reconciliations, job costing support, and month-end close activities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supports internal controls, and collaborates closely with Operations, Project Management, and Finance to ensure proper cost allocation and timely financial reporting.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
Oversee accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment execution (checks, ACH, wires, credit cards). Resolve vendor, subcontractor, and payment discrepancies, including retainage and job-cost issues. Perform AP, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations; support month-end close and accruals. Ensure accurate job cost coding and allocation for construction projects. Maintain vendor compliance documentation (W-9s, COIs, lien waivers, NTOs). Support audits, financial reporting, and ad-hoc analysis. Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations to resolve cost, documentation, and process issues. Identify and implement process improvements and maintain AP/accounting SOPs.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent, associates degree or coursework in accounting/finance/business administration preferred. At least 1 year of accounting or accounts payable experience, preferably in the construction industry. Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. NetSuite, or similar ERP systems). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF formulas, SUMIF/COUNTIF, and reconciliation of large data sets. Attention to detail, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information. Employment Authorization Document.
