Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Bookkeeper to join our dynamic fast-paced law firm. In this role, you will support the accounting department by assisting with daily bookkeeping tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a collaborative environment that values accuracy, efficiency, and continuous learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and experience working with various financial software systems. Responsibilities Assist with data entry and maintenance of financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks 8am LawPay, and other financial systems. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes by verifying invoices, processing payments, and reconciling statements. Prepare journal entries for various financial activities, ensuring proper debits and credits in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Conduct bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data. Support month-end and year-end closing procedures by preparing balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis. Help compile financial reports and assist in budget tracking to support organizational financial health. Maintain organized records of all financial documents, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Track, prepare, review and send client billing Experience Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience is required; at least one year preferred. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), 8am LawPay, or similar platforms is essential. Strong knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing. Familiarity with double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and general ledger accounting. Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting concepts is highly desirable. Experience working within public accounting or non-profit organizations is a plus but not mandatory.
