Job Description
Position Summary Risk Services is seeking an Accounting Assistant to provide administrative and entry level accounting support. The position assists with premium tax filings, routine transaction processing, account reconciliations, record maintenance, and quarterly and year end reporting. Training will be provided on insurance specific processes and systems. The successful candidate will be organized, comfortable working with numbers, attentive to detail, and able to manage recurring deadlines. Primary Responsibilities Assist with preparing and submitting insurance premium tax returns and related filings using established procedures and templates. Assist with routine accounting tasks, including entering transactions, preparing basic journal entries, and completing account reconciliations. Assist with bank reconciliations and the maintenance of complete and accurate client accounting records. Update filing calendars, track due dates, and follow up on information needed to complete assigned filings. Maintain organized electronic files, workpapers, and supporting documentation. Work with Account Managers and other team members to obtain information and resolve routine questions. Provide administrative and accounting support for client projects and other assigned responsibilities. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Coursework, an associate degree, or practical experience in accounting, business, or office administration is required. Basic understanding of accounting concepts or a willingness to learn routine accounting procedures. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft 365 applications. Ability to follow written procedures, enter and organize data accurately, and ask questions when instructions or results are unclear. Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients. Ability to organize assigned work, meet recurring deadlines, and maintain accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, tax preparation, or administrative support. Experience in insurance, financial services, or another office environment with recurring deadlines. Experience using accounting software, data entry systems, or document tracking tools.
