JOB SUMMARY
Performs routine to moderate accounting support work for the Village of Wellington (Village). Work involves following generally accepted standard accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employees may also perform other duties as assigned. Maintains and reconciles various department financial, accounting, timekeeping and statistical records and reports; performs posting, entry, maintenance and reconciliation tasks relevant to assigned functional area. Assists with processing of various billings and payments relevant to accounts payable and/or receivable functions, e.g., invoices, requisitions, work orders, check requests, petty cash receipts, customer billings, vendor payments, stop payments. Performs verification and reconciliation tasks for invoices/receipts/balances according to unit checks and balances procedures. Prepares routine to moderate year-end reporting and/or reconciliation, special financial, accounting, and statistical reports regarding assigned functional area. Maintains adherence to generally accepted accounting standards and principles; ensures maintenance of proper audit trails and verification and reconciliation actions for all processed work. Generates various system reports to ensure accuracy in system processes, e.g., customer billing, payment processing, insurance processing and billings; maintains, updates and/or reconciles various logs, reports, ledgers, files, databases, and spreadsheets; performs year-end auditing and close out tasks.Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilitiesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented three (3) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to drive a Village owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Technical certification is usually required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree or supplemental college level coursework or vocational training in business administration or accounting. Regular attendance at work on-site is essential to maintain the necessary teamwork, personal interaction, and supervision that this position requires. Responds to emergency call-ins for hurricanes or other critical events.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements Knowledge of technical procedures and systems such as financial statement close processes and accounting matters Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable department and organization specific software and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required Skill in basic math including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometric construction, practical algebra and metrics Ability to interpret and apply complete Federal and State fiscal regulations to analyze and correct accounting and financial problems and errors Ability to multi-task while working with tight deadlines and shifting priorities Ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files in numerical, alphabetical, or chronological sequence Ability to communicate during emergency situations effectively, promptly, and accurately or to avoid hazards Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgroundsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). May involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks are regularly performed inside without potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Tasks require sound and visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communications ability. Must have manual dexterity and be able to perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, or fingers. Must be able to perceive color and depth. Tasks involve prolonged eye use and/or fine visual ability; computer work, reading text, visual inspections, or measurement devices. Must be able to follow visual cues or signals.
