We are looking for a Bookkeeper for a law firm!Location:
on-site in Maitland The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the firm on a cash basis, processing accounts payable and client cost transactions, preparing case settlement documentation, and supporting month-end and year-end close. This role requires strong attention to detail, and the ability to work confidently within the firm's accounting and case management systems. Compensation and Benefits Annual salary based on experience - $60,000-$65,000 Semi-annual discretionary bonuses Health Care Contribution (includes health, dental and vision) 401K Contribution Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Paid Holidays Paid Time Off (PTO) Possible opportunity for work from home 1 day a week (after 90 days) Company sponsored Team Outings and Activities Key Responsibilities- Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including recording closed case write-offs (Law Group operates on a cash basis, not full accrual GAAP).
- Receive, verify, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting and case management systems.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs for both operating expenses and case costs.
- Process American Express credit card transactions.
- Create Closing Statements for case settlements.
- Create Cost Reports for mediations, lien negotiations, and related matters.
- Prepare correspondence for trust checks when cases are disbursed.
- Maintain client files relating to case settlements.
- Process annual 1099s and assist with preparation of the firm's tax package for the CPA.
- Download and prepare month-end reports for monthly meetings.
