Southern Flow Inc. is a systems integration firm specializing in innovative, custom turkey control systems for water and wastewater facilities across the Southeast. Based in Alpharetta, GA, we're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial recordkeeping and accounting activities of our growing systems integration company. Because much of our work is project-based, we're specifically looking for someone with previous accounting or bookkeeping experience in a construction, contractor/subcontractor, or similar project-based environment. The right candidate will understand the unique accounting needs associated with ongoing projects, including WIP, labor-hour tracking, retainage, project billing, and job-related costs. We're especially interested in someone who doesn't just want to maintain existing processes. We want someone who is curious about new technology, interested in tools such as AI and automation, and excited about finding smarter and more efficient ways to manage accounting and administrative processes.

What You'll Do:

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Process customer invoices, vendor bills, payments, and deposits
• Maintain general ledger records and assist with month-end and year-end processes
• Track work-in-progress (WIP) and maintain accurate project-related financial information
• Track and reconcile labor hours associated with projects
• Manage and monitor retainage/retention associated with customer and subcontractor billing
• Track project costs and help ensure expenses and labor are accurately assigned to the appropriate jobs
• Maintain organized financial and project accounting records
• Help ensure accounting practices and records remain accurate and compliant
• Prepare routine financial and bookkeeping reports for company leadership
• Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend opportunities to improve accuracy, organization, and efficiency
• Explore and implement appropriate technologies, including automation and AI-enabled tools, to streamline repetitive processes and improve workflows
• Work within Sage accounting software to maintain company financial information
• Coordinate with leadership, project managers, employees, vendors, customers, and external accounting partners as needed

What We're Looking For:

• 3+ years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Previous experience in construction, contracting, subcontracting, or a similar project-based industry required
• Working knowledge of WIP, job costing, labor-hour tracking, retainage, and project billing
• Experience with Sage accounting software preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiples priorities
• Curious and improvement-minded, with an interest in finding better ways to organize and complete work
• Interest in emerging technology, automation, and AI and how these tools can responsibly improve accounting and business processes
