AMP operates through multiple related business entities supported by a lean Finance Department. We are seeking an experienced accounting professional for a temporary assignment of up to six months to provide additional hands-on accounting support to the existing Finance team. Position Summary The Temporary Accounting Specialist will work alongside the Director of Finance and Accounting Assistant to assist with the daily accounting operations of AMP and its related entities. The primary purpose of this position is to provide additional hands-on support with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, transaction processing, financial record maintenance, and other routine accounting functions during a period of increased workload. This individual may also assist with specific accounting cleanup and reconciliation projects as directed by the Director of Finance. This is a support role and is not intended to assume responsibility for the Director of Finance's core duties, responsibility for the month-end or year-end close, financial reporting responsibilities, or overall management of the accounting function. Key Responsibilities Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions across AMP's related entities. Prepare and issue customer invoices and accurately record incoming payments. Apply customer payments and assist with researching unapplied or incorrectly applied payments. Assist with reviewing AR aging and routine customer follow-up as directed. Prepare payments, invoices, vendor documentation, and supporting accounting records. Reconcile vendor statements and communicate with vendors regarding discrepancies. Assist with bank, credit card, and payment-processor reconciliations. Enter and maintain accurate financial data within Zoho Books and other company systems. Review transaction coding and supporting documentation for accuracy and identify discrepancies for correction. Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records. Generate routine accounting reports and supporting schedules as requested. Assist the Director of Finance with month-end and year-end closing activities. Prepare assigned reconciliations, supporting documentation, and accounting information needed for the close. Research account discrepancies and provide supporting information to the Director of Finance. Assist with intercompany reconciliations and transactions across related entities as directed. Assist with identified reconciliation and accounting cleanup projects as assigned. Research historical transactions and supporting documentation to help resolve outstanding accounting items. Assist with correcting coding inconsistencies and other identified accounting issues. Help organize supporting records related to cleanup projects. Support the Director of Finance with other defined accounting projects during the temporary assignment.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated professional accounting experience. 3+ years of general ledger, staff accountant, bookkeeping, or comparable hands-on accounting experience. Experience supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities, including reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules and documentation. Hands-on experience working with multiple related legal entities, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations. Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills. Experience working within a cloud-based accounting or ERP system. Solid working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills with the ability to research discrepancies and identify the source of accounting errors. Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete assigned accounting tasks while operating as part of a small Finance team. Strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and accuracy. Reliable transportation and in-office attendance are required.
Preferred:
Experience working in a small or mid-size organization with multiple related legal entities and a lean Finance team, where you have personally handled day-to-day accounting processes rather than relying on specialized departments. Experience with Zoho Books specifically, or a comparable cloud ERP such as QuickBooks Online or NetSuite. Experience in hospitality, membership, subscription, or recurring-revenue businesses, including deferred revenue and membership-dues recognition. Experience assisting with accounting cleanup, historical reconciliations, or correcting financial-record discrepancies. A demonstrated history of identifying accounting-process problems and assisting with practical solutions and process improvements. Assignment Details This position is a temporary, hands-on accounting support role and does not have supervisory, management, or department-level decision-making authority. The role is intended to provide additional day-to-day accounting capacity and assist with assigned accounting, reconciliation, and cleanup projects. Responsibility for leading the Finance Department, completing and overseeing the month-end and year-end close, performing higher-level accounting work, resolving significant accounting matters, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting remains with the Director of Finance. The assignment is expected to last up to six months. At the conclusion of the temporary assignment, employment will end unless Atlanta Motorsports Park determines there is an ongoing business need and formally offers the employee a regular position. Additional Information Atlanta Motorsports Park is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, gender, age, disability, or any other status protected by applicable federal or state law. Atlanta Motorsports Park is a drug-free workplace. Pre-employment drug testing and a background check are required for this financial position.
