About Sheet Metal Werks, LLC Founded in 1987, Sheet Metal Werks, LLC is an established and growing commercial HVAC sheet metal fabrication company located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. We serve customers throughout the construction industry and have built our reputation on quality, reliability, responsiveness, and long-term customer relationships. We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist with a strong background in accounts payable and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with vendor reconciliations, customer collections, GL coding, month-end processes, and Excel. Experience with Sage 100, lien waivers, sales-tax exemptions, or construction/manufacturing accounting is highly preferred. This position also includes data entry and general office administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Process and enter accounts payable invoices accurately and timely Assist with accounts receivable and customer invoicing Reconcile vendor invoices, statements, and account discrepancies Balance approximately 70 vendor accounts monthly, including freight and shipping accounts Apply appropriate general ledger coding to invoices and transactions Research posting, coding, invoice, and payment discrepancies Assist with AP and AR month-end closing activities Monitor past-due customer balances and perform collections Prepare and send customer invoices and statements Assist with customer credit inquiries and documentation Maintain sales tax exemption certificates, including out-of-state exemptions Prepare, track, and obtain lien waivers and other related documentation Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in Sage 100 Office & Administrative Support Perform detailed data entry with a strong focus on accuracy Set up and maintain customer and vendor accounts Maintain invoices, statements, credit documents, tax certificates, lien waivers, and related records Respond to customer and vendor questions regarding invoices, payments, statements, and account information Communicate with internal departments to obtain information and resolve accounting questions Support accounting and management with administrative projects Provide general office support as needed Qualifications Previous experience in an Accounting Specialist, AP/AR Specialist, Accounting Administrator, Bookkeeper, Office Manager, or similar role Strong data-entry and recordkeeping skills Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are important for this position Schedule This is a full-time, in-person position at our Arlington Heights facility. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some scheduling flexibility may be available once the employee is established in the role, including the possibility of a 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule. A consistent 40-hour workweek is expected.
