Position Summary and Key Responsibilities Position Summary:

The Graduate Assistant will assist the Finance Office with various aspects of professional accounting and administrative work necessary to maintain the University's assets and endowments.

Key Responsibilities:

Reviewing and Recording financial transactions (journal entries; uploaded document files)

Assisting with preparing account reconciliations, including monthly or quarterly bank reconciliations.

Running reports at the end of the workday to post transactions in general ledger system.

Reviewing corporate card statements for appropriate receipt documentation.

General filing in accordance with University protocols.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or related field) and acceptance into a master's program at McKendree University is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of general accounting principles Professional oral and written communication skills; the position will be communicating with staff from other departments on campus.

Computer skills:

Knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel; and familiarity with

Adobe Acrobat Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with Ellucian Colleague is beneficial

Work Conditions Work Hours/Conditions:

Office environment with routine walking to other campus buildings and offices; normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Part-time position with max of 29 hours per week. In-office schedule to be agreed upon with supervisor. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
