This mission is accomplished primarily through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, to build and rehabilitate houses for families in need of affordable housing. It is meant to be a hand-up, not a hand-out, in that the new homeowner is asked to spend a significant number of hours working on his or her new home and will be asked to repay a loan for the cost of the home.

ABOUT DUPAGE & CHICAGO SOUTH SUBURBS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity provides decent affordable housing to those in need who either reside in the state of Illinois, specifically in DuPage County and Chicago South Suburbs. Headquartered in Wheaton and Oak Forest, the affiliate has served over 300 families since its inception and has plans to grow in capacity to serve over 40 additional families per year. DCSSHFH operates under the umbrella of HFHI, but is solely responsible for funding its operation, choosing partner families, constructing, or rehabbing homes and ensuring the success of its partner families in DuPage County and Chicago South Suburbs. families. Position Summary Reporting to the Senior Accounting Assistant, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for all daily accounting activities. The Accounting Assistant will ensure that transactions are posted accurately and in accordance with established procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Preparation of daily accounting entries to appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Perform bank deposits.
• Manage accounts payable; coordinate coding with responsible staff, entering in QuickBooks, maintaining adequate supporting documentation, projecting cash flow requirements and amounts.
• Paying and recording approved bills and ensure bills are paid on time.
• Preparation Accounts Receivable transactions and their appropriate receipt of payments
• Balancing general ledger accounts and verification of cash account entries on a regular basis
• Along with the Senior Accounting Assistant, maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and annual budget
• Assist the Senior Accounting Assistant to facilitate the annual budget and planning process with senior staff and board
• Assist the Senior Accounting Assistant with cash position
• Accountable to meeting monthly goals of the organization, departmental and individual goals

• An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in Accounting field
• Solid experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Unwavering commitment to quality financial statement preparation
