Accounts Payable Clerk

Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk Chicopee, MA Apply Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our client's team on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role is suited for someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with invoice workflows, and attentive to accuracy in financial processing. The position focuses on supporting day-to-day payables operations while helping ensure timely payments and properly coded transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices accurately and route them through the appropriate approval and payment workflow.
• Review supporting documentation and assign correct account codes before entries are finalized.
• Prepare and execute payment activity, including ACH transactions and scheduled check runs.
• Reconcile payable records and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean and reliable financial data.
• Communicate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve invoice questions, payment issues, and outstanding items.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and ensure records are complete, current, and easy to retrieve.
• Support ongoing improvements to payable procedures and assist with operational changes affecting invoice processing when needed. Requirements
• Prior experience working in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Working knowledge of invoice coding and general ledger account assignment.
• Experience handling electronic payments, including ACH processing.
• Familiarity with preparing and managing check runs in a business environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to process high volumes of transactions accurately.
• Comfortable using accounting systems and standard office software to manage financial records.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to follow established procedures consistently.
