Every device we ship is built to a specific patient's body and prescription. We are a small, hands-on team in Ann Arbor where the work you do is close to the product and close to the people it helps. The Role We're looking for a Bookkeeper to own the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a broad seat, not a narrow one: you'll manage customer accounts and reimbursement billing, run AP and AR, keep our books clean and current, and produce the analyses that tell us what it actually costs to build a device and where the margin goes. If you like understanding a business end to end — and you'd rather work somewhere your numbers get read and acted on than be one desk in a large accounting department — this will suit you. What You'll DoCustomer Accounts & Receivables Manage customer and patient accounts from order through payment Prepare and submit invoices and claims to private insurers, workers' compensation carriers, auto/no-fault payers, VA, and direct-pay customers Track outstanding balances, follow up on aging receivables, and resolve denials, short-pays, and billing disputes Post payments, reconcile remittances, and maintain accurate customer records Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices for components, contract services, and operating expenses Match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices before payment Manage payment scheduling to protect cash flow and vendor relationships Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies General Ledger & Close Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations Execute monthly and year-end close Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules Assist with payroll processing and related filings Support the outside CPA at tax time and during any audit or review Financial Analysis for Manufacturing Track inventory, raw materials, and work-in-process values Build and maintain job/unit costing for custom-built devices — materials, labor, and overhead Analyze gross margin by product line and identify cost drivers Monitor cash flow and prepare rolling forecasts Support budgeting, purchasing decisions, and pricing analysis with clear, usable numbers What We're Looking ForRequired 3-5 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience Associate's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (or comparable accounting software) Advanced Excel — pivot tables, lookups, and building a model someone else can follow Solid grasp of full-cycle AP/AR, general ledger, and month-end close Accuracy and follow-through: you catch your own errors before anyone else does Discretion with confidential financial and patient information Preferred Manufacturing, inventory, or job-costing experience Medical device, healthcare, or DME background Familiarity with insurance billing, medical claims, or reimbursement workflows Exposure to ERP or MRP systems Payroll administration experience Why AxioBionics Small team, real ownership — your work is visible and it matters Direct access to leadership; no layers between your analysis and the decision
