No Benefits Position Summary The Branch County Fair is seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Treasurer / Full-Charge Bookkeeper to oversee the financial operations of the Branch County Fair and Dearth Community Center. This is a part-time, hybrid position that offers flexibility to complete certain bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities remotely, while requiring in-person availability for meetings, financial responsibilities, Fair preparation, and Fair Week. The Treasurer is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, financial statements, budgeting, reporting, and year-end financial responsibilities. The position works closely with the Fair Manager and Fair Board to maintain accurate financial records and provide timely financial information. This position is paid monthly and does not include benefits. Key Responsibilities Payroll
  • Process weekly employee timesheets and payroll.
  • Verify and maintain required employment documentation, including I-9 forms for new employees.
  • Process monthly payroll taxes and Michigan withholding taxes.
  • Complete quarterly unemployment/UIA tax requirements.
  • Process Dearth Community Center wages through Fair payroll and properly allocate wages, taxes, and administrative expenses. Accounts Payable & Financial Management
  • Process accounts payable for both the Branch County Fair and Dearth Community Center.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and compare expenses to previous invoices when appropriate.
  • Identify unusual expenses and communicate with the Fair Manager regarding items requiring additional review or approval.
  • Process credit card statements and online payments.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks.
  • Manage accounts receivable and ensure income is properly recorded. Monthly Financial Reporting
  • Ensure all monthly income and expenses are accurately entered.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for Fair Board meetings, including:
  • Balance Sheet
  • Income Statement
  • Check Register
  • Budget Reports
  • Reconcile all Fair and Dearth Community Center bank accounts monthly through QuickBooks. Annual Fair Preparation
  • Coordinate with the bank to order and organize starting cash for Fair Week.
  • Organize Fair contracts according to payment dates and enter upcoming payables into QuickBooks.
  • Review the Judges Book and prepare judge payments according to scheduled dates.
  • Ensure financial materials and records are organized and ready prior to Fair Week. Fair Week Responsibilities
  • Be available in person throughout Fair Week to complete required Treasurer responsibilities.
  • Process daily payments for judges, entertainment, grandstand events, vendors, and other Fair expenses.
  • Prepare daily deposits and coordinate secure transportation of deposits to the bank.
  • Coordinate cash requests and change needs with the bank.
  • Maintain accurate financial records throughout Fair Week.
  • Request and maintain vendor Workers' Compensation certificates as required.
  • Complete Workers' Compensation reports and payroll information when requested. Year-End & State Reporting
  • Prepare financial reports for the Fair's Annual Meeting.
  • Prepare and present the annual Treasurer's Report.
  • Complete required Michigan year-end reports following the September 30 fiscal year-end.
  • Prepare financial documentation necessary for State of Michigan grant opportunities.
  • Prepare annual budget reports using prior-year financial information.
  • Participate in the annual budget process. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have:
  • Previous bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management experience.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliation, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with payroll taxes and Michigan employer reporting preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential financial and employee information.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Fair Manager and Fair Board.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage an increased workload leading up to and during Fair Week.
Schedule & Work Environment This is a part-time, hybrid position with a combination of remote and on-site responsibilities. The position offers flexibility throughout much of the year; however, the Treasurer must be available for required Fair Board meetings, budget and year-end meetings, banking responsibilities, Fair preparation, and other duties that require an on-site presence. Fair Week requires significant in-person availability and an increased workload. Compensation & Benefits

$4,000.00 - $6,500.00 per year
