Job Description

Fiscal Assistant II City of Madison Heights | Finance Department The City of Madison Heights is seeking a detail-oriented Fiscal Assistant II to support payment processing, financial recordkeeping, and customer service in the Finance Department. This is a union position (MEU). Key Responsibilities Accept payments for water bills, property taxes, special assessments, licenses, and other obligations due the City; receive funds collected by other departments and disburse funds to the appropriate agency, governmental body, or fund. Process cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently. Provide courteous service to the public at the counter and respond to accounting transaction inquiries in person and by telephone. Perform fiscal data entry, financial recordkeeping, and related duties as assigned. Specific duties vary by assignment within the department. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED, supplemented by bookkeeping and accounting coursework equivalent to one year of business school. At least one year of experience in a computerized financial office maintaining accounting records, involving public contact and cash transactions. Prior governmental experience preferred. Pay and Benefits $25.88 to $29.24 per hour, with step increases at 12 and 24 months. Additional Information A post-offer, pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen are required. Madison Heights residency is not required.
