Boutique Accounting Firm | Troy, Michigan We are a boutique accounting firm located in Troy, Michigan , seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Full-Time Bookkeeper to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with a variety of clients, takes pride in accurate and organized financial records, and values the collaborative, client-focused environment of a smaller accounting firm. Position Overview The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions for a portfolio of small and closely held business clients. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple client accounts, meeting deadlines, communicating directly with clients, and working independently while also collaborating with our accounting and tax professionals. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate general ledgers and financial records for multiple clients Record and categorize financial transactions Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Prepare and post journal entries Process payroll and related payroll reporting, as applicable Assist with sales tax filings and other recurring compliance requirements Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports Review client books for accuracy and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and resolve bookkeeping questions Maintain organized supporting documentation and accounting records Assist with year-end bookkeeping cleanup and preparation of client records for tax return preparation Work closely with CPAs and other team members to ensure client accounts are accurate, complete, and ready for tax and financial reporting Qualifications Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience required; experience in a CPA or accounting firm is strongly preferred Strong knowledge of general bookkeeping and accounting principles Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Desktop are required; QuickBooks Certified in either platform is a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Experience with payroll and sales tax reporting is a plus Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential client information What We Offer Full-time position with a stable, established boutique accounting firm Professional and collaborative work environment Opportunity to work directly with business owners and experienced accounting professionals Variety of client work and opportunities to expand accounting and bookkeeping knowledge Competitive compensation based on experience Benefits and paid time off Opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility Schedule & Location This is a full-time position based in Troy, Michigan .
