Job Description

Buffalo Covenant Church is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the financial integrity and day-to-day financial operations of the church. This role helps ensure that resources are handled accurately, responsibly, and with care so that our staff and ministries can focus on fulfilling our mission. The ideal candidate is steady and trustworthy, comfortable working behind the scenes, committed to confidentiality, and able to manage details and deadlines while working well with others. Above all, we're looking for someone who brings dependability, discretion, and a collaborative spirit to this important role.
QUALIFICATIONS
Spiritual and emotional maturity demonstrated through an authentic and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ. High personal integrity and trustworthiness, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and church members. Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or a related financial role, with a working understanding of basic accounting principles. Strong administrative and organizational skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact graciously with a variety of people. RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with the Director of Finance to maintain accurate, timely, and organized financial processes and records that support the ministry of Buffalo Covenant Church. Manage church giving and deposits, including receiving, processing, recording, and depositing church offerings and online giving. Manage accounts payable, ensuring bills and invoices are accurately processed, recorded, and paid in a timely manner. Support payroll administration, including processing bi-weekly payroll and maintaining accurate employee information within the online payroll system. Maintain employee records and support onboarding, ensuring required information and documentation is accurate and up to date. Support financial reporting and stewardship processes, including contribution statements, stewardship communications, non-cash contributions, contribution envelopes, employee credit card records and receipts, and annual workers' compensation audits. Maintain required transportation records, including the church bus/van driver list and required driver information, as well as coordinating random CDL driver screenings. Provide general administrative support to the Finance Team and assist with other financial or administrative responsibilities as needed.
