About the Role We are a mission-driven 501(c)(3) organization based in Detroit Lakes, MN, seeking a detail-oriented, investigative, and systems-savvy Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our team in a permanent capacity. This position offers a unique and rewarding professional path. In Phase 1 , you will take a lead as our financial clean-up champion, working to audit and resolve a 2-year historical backlog of financial records. In Phase 2 , you will transition into ongoing financial management while acting as an internal anchor during an exciting cloud technology upgrade. You will work side-by-side with an elite external consulting team to migrate our accounting infrastructure into a modern ERP environment.

Key Responsibilities Historical System Clean-Up:

Systematically audit, correct, and reconcile a 2-year historical backlog of financial transactions, sub-ledgers, and journal entries within our legacy system.

Fund Accounting Excellence:

Ensure all financial data accurately respects the unique rules of non-profit accounting, meticulously tracking allocations between restricted and unrestricted donor funds.

ERP Migration Collaboration:

Partner directly with our external migration consultants, Stoneridge Software (Fargo, ND), to clean up legacy data and assist in moving our financial infrastructure from Microsoft Dynamics GP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central .

Advanced Payroll Management:

Process and oversee end-to-end payroll administration utilizing Integrity Data for Payroll , ensuring accurate allocation of personnel expenses to matching accounts.

Full-Charge Ledger Oversight:

Manage day-to-day accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash flow monitoring, and monthly bank reconciliations.

Audit & Tax Readiness:

Keep financial records clean, organized, and structurally compliant to ensure seamless hand-offs for external CPA audits and annual IRS Form 990 reporting .

Required Qualifications & Skills Microsoft Dynamics Ecosystem Experience:

Prior experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred. General experience with tier-2 enterprise accounting software will be heavily considered.

Fund Accounting Knowledge:

A foundational understanding of non-profit accounting mechanisms, including functional expenses and net assets with donor restrictions.

Payroll Processing Background:

Practical experience executing payroll through integrated system modules; direct experience with Integrity Data is a major asset.

Problem-Solving Mindset:

A natural affinity for financial forensic work, finding ledger discrepancies, and cleaning up historical data sets.
