We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a transportation equipment manufacturing organization in Kansas City, Missouri. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who brings solid payables experience, strong Excel skills, and a careful approach to financial accuracy. The person in this role will support daily invoice processing, employee expense review, and card reconciliation while working closely with accounting processes tied to the general ledger.

Responsibilities:

Review supplier invoices against purchase orders and supporting records to confirm accuracy before processing payments. Reconcile corporate credit card activity and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Audit and process employee expense submissions in accordance with company policies and approval requirements. Record accounts payable transactions with attention to proper coding and alignment to the general ledger. Use Excel tools such as PivotTables and VLOOKUP to organize data, research variances, and support reporting needs. Partner with internal teams and vendors to clarify billing questions, missing documentation, and payment issues. Maintain organized financial records and ensure accounts payable documentation is complete and audit-ready. 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role. Hands-on experience matching invoices to purchase orders and validating supporting documentation. Proven ability to complete credit card reconciliations and process expense reports accurately. Working knowledge of general ledger concepts and financial coding practices. Strong Excel skills, including the ability to use PivotTables and VLOOKUP; candidates with advanced Excel capability and related AP knowledge may be considered for training. Experience using expense management tools such as Concur is preferred. High level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.
