Company Overview Seaway Development owns and operates 200,000+ sq ft of commercial space, primarily office and warehouse, in Gulfport, MS. Summary The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining all financial records for the company. This position is in charge of all accounts receivable/payable, creates monthly financial reports, creates weekly statements, and supplies an outside accounting firm with year-end company data. This role also is responsible for maintaining and organizing company documentation, including insurance and applicable government filings. This person will also serve as backup to our property operations coordinator by taking messages from current and prospective customers. Supervisory Responsibilities None Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounts Receivable
- Set up new customer accounts
- Responsible for customer credit references
- Supply monthly invoices to customers as required
- Collect revenues for multiple entities and applies revenues to invoices
- Reconcile and maintain the AR ledger
- Set up and process electronic payments
- Provide weekly AR reports
- Monitor customer delinquencies and notify management at specified time periods
- Make remote bank deposits, unless an in-person deposit is required
- Supply customers with W9 and bank information Accounts Payable
- Update vendor information as needed
- Post vendor invoices to AP ledger
- Provide weekly AP report
- Prepare and process vendor invoices
- Prepare weekly checks for signature
- Set up and process electronic payments Month-End Procedures
- Reconcile bank accounts for multiple entities
- Reconcile credit card statement
- Maintain a balanced general ledger
- Create monthly financial reports to supply to management
- Create required general journal entries Year-End Procedures
- Supply needed information to outside CPA
- Maintain year-end close
- Generate 1099s Other Duties & Skills
- Serve as a backup to Property Operations Coordinator
- Process bi-weekly payroll on ADP platform
- Manage property tax reimbursement for tenants with applicable backup
- Assist with local and state business licensing updates
- Maintain office/IT equipment in good working order
- Track insurance renewals
- Responsible for document retention
- Organize and maintain all tenant lease information
- Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word/Outlook
- Intermediate or better Microsoft Excel skills
- Superb attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Experience with QuickBooks or Sage a plus
- General bookkeeping proficiency a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Valid driver's license and insurance
- Use of a personal vehicle for business-related travel Education and Experience
- High school diploma required; associate's degree highly preferred
- Accounting specialty a plus
- Three to five years of related experience recommended
- Real estate or property management related experience a plus
- Notary Public certification (company will assist) Physical Requirements
