Finance Assistant

    General Definition of Work
    Performs intermediate skilled accounting support, accounts receivable, accounts payable as well as general business office support.

Work is performed with limited supervision of the finance officer.

Qualifications Requirements

Combination of education and work experience equivalent to graduation from a two-year community college program.

Previous school business office experience required. Charter School experience preferred.

Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, Word, PowerSchool K12

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivables policies, practices, and procedures; general knowledge of routine accounting principles.
  • General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed work procedures; ability to post to accounts and to perform mathematical computations with accuracy.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software.
  • Ability to generate and keep related records, reports, and files.
  • Ability to learn specialized software related to business needs.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
  • Working knowledge of office practices, basic accounting and basic clerical methods, and ability to compile information based on general instructions.

Essential functions

Prepares and maintains financial systems and records.

Receives, receipts, accounts for, and deposits school funds.

Prepares invoices for payments. Maintains internal audit controls.

Prepares a wide variety of accounting, fiscal, statistical, and similar reports.

Prepares and assists with outside audits.

Performs other related tasks as assigned.
